On a quiet weekend evening, a sense of calm was briefly interrupted at one of London’s exclusive residential developments. Four individuals gained unauthorised access to the underground car park by closely following a resident’s vehicle, a manoeuvre known in security terms as tailgating.
Three of the intruders were on bicycles, some partially covering their faces, and their movements near the bicycle storage area quickly drew suspicion. Within moments, what could have been an incident of theft or vandalism turned into a demonstration of vigilance, coordination, and professionalism.
Observation and Response
A resident who noticed the unusual behaviour acted swiftly and alerted the reception. The reception team immediately contacted the on-site Security Concierge team. Alin, one of our trained Security Concierges, responded immediately to the call. His calm yet assertive presence upon arrival changed the course of events.
As Alin entered the underground area, the suspects attempted to flee. Three managed to escape, but one was quickly and safely detained until the police arrived. The individual was arrested on site and their bicycle confiscated. No injuries occurred, and no property was damaged or stolen.
Recognition and Teamwork
The site manager later commended the team for their professionalism, stating: “Thank you to the whole team for your incredibly quick response. I truly appreciate your vigilance and teamwork.”
The incident was overseen by Vlad Baican, Operations Manager at Security Risk Specialists, who was informed from the outset and coordinated the response remotely to ensure clear communication and operational control throughout.
Reflecting on the event, Vlad said: “The effective coordination between the resident, reception, on-site staff and the police, which resulted in no harm, no loss and an arrest, is a testament to the outstanding service SRS provides. I am proud to play a part in achieving such positive outcomes.”
