It is, therefore, imperative that every point of access into the data centre is secured and consistent and timely checks occur to the limited entry points and physical barriers to prevent forced entry.

SRS are extremely sensitive to the risks posed by unauthorised access and other potential security breaches to our client and the other industries that rely on its continuity to operate their entire UK operations.

Designing and delivering the right tailored solution

As a management team, we worked with the organisation’s requirements and preferences, carefully evaluated the property’s layout, access and egress points, and devised emergency/evacuation plans presented to and approved by the client.

For the safety and security of the premises, we considered factors ranging from entry and exit points and potential breaches to authenticated access procedures into the data centre. SRS will monitor and audit these vigorously. In addition to the vigilance provided by our 24×7 on-site security guards to prevent any physical attacks, we also considered the following:

  • Proximity to high-risk areas
  • Locations and availability of network carrier, power, water, and transport systems
  • The likelihood of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods and hurricanes etc.
  • The likelihood of threats such as burglary, theft, terrorism, activists or other events that could potentially cause damage or loss
  • The access control system with an anti-tailgating/anti-pass-back facility to permit only one person to enter at a time
  • The single entry point into the facility.

SRS will also monitor the safety and security of the data centre rack room with authenticated access through the following systems:

  • Closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera surveillance with video retention as per an agreed policy
  • Checking and monitoring the access control rights regularly and augmenting if necessary
  • Monitoring temperature and humidity through proper control of air conditioning and indirect cooling systems, following reporting and escalating protocols
